UNPACKING STANDARDS

Standards from the state are unpacked at both the district and PLC levels. Lead and facilitate the determination of essential standards to guide course design.

BACKWARD DESIGN

Every course, unit, module, and lesson is created using backward design. This applies to formative and summative content assessments to achieve long-term application of knowledge.

ALIGNMENT

All lessons and modules of learning are aligned to standards of the course. This drives design and instruction for successful mastery of skills.

VALID AND RELIABLE ASSESSMENTS

Common assessments for the course and modules are created in collaboration with leaders and classroom teachers. Assessments go through multiple rounds of analysis and editing before being administered. Data is gathered from each administration to improve test validity and reliability.

EFFECTIVE LEARNING STRATEGIES

Extensive knowledge of effective learning strategies and theory helps to build learning experiences that meet the diverse needs of students. During the analysis, strategies are recommended but it is also emphasized that educators should be ready to adapt based on the observed needs of learners.
